At the end of last year, I went to Seoul with a friend, and she insisted that I visit a dermatology clinic in Jiangnan. I thought it would be just an ordinary beauty clinic, but as soon as I entered, I was asked a question that left me stunned: “Which layer was the ultrasonic treatment you had done designed for?”
I had no idea how to answer that question at the time. I didn’t know that ultrasonic treatments could be designed for specific layers or that they could even be customized. Jiangnan Station is an area with many dermatology clinics, so the VS LINE branch in this building isn’t particularly “eye-catching” in terms of its exterior, with its low-key white design. But once you enter, you can immediately feel the high quality of the space: white marble floors, gold mirrored ceilings, and each treatment room being a private booth, creating a comfortable and spacious environment.
3. What is “Custom Lifting Design”? How does VS LINE’s customized ultrasonic treatment differ from others?
This is what impressed me the most about my visit to VS LINE. They have a concept called “Custom Lifting Design.” Before starting the ultrasonic treatment, the doctor analyzes the structure of your face, including the thickness of your fat layers, the location of the SMAS tissue, and the support provided by your bones. Then, they tailor the intensity and placement of the ultrasonic waves based on the unique features of your face.
To take myself as an example, after examining my face, Dr. Kim Pu-lan said that the fat layer around my temples and jawbones was relatively thin. If I used the standard intensity setting, the results might not be noticeable or could even be painful. Instead, a customized intensity and angle would be more appropriate. Such personalized attention is something none of the clinics I had visited before had ever mentioned.
They also offer a variety of ultrasound devices, including the Ulthera Prime (second-generation customized ultrasound) and the Universe Shrink. The doctor will recommend the most suitable one based on your needs. The consultation fee starts at ₩100,000 (about NT$2,300), which is quite reasonable. They also offer Thermage, Juvelook hyaluronic acid injections, and Lijulan treatments, and it’s possible to schedule multiple procedures at once.
IV. The consultation process with Dr. Kim Pu-lan: What made her ask me these questions that changed my mind?
After having so many ultrasound treatments, this was the first time a doctor actually asked me how the previous treatments were designed during the consultation.
Dr. Kim Pu-lan’s approach to the consultation left a deep impression on me. Instead of suggesting treatments right away, she first asked about my past experiences, how many times I had undergone these procedures, which areas I wanted to improve, and whether I had experienced any adverse reactions. Only after that did she show me the analysis charts and explain where my facial issues lay, which layers needed to be addressed, and what kind of energy would be most effective. The entire consultation took about 20 minutes, which was longer than at most other clinics I had been to.
The clinic supports communication in Chinese, so you can have the entire consultation in Chinese without worrying about language barriers. This is especially important for those visiting Korea for the first time to undergo ultrasound treatments—you can fully express your needs without worrying that language will affect the results.
V. Actual photos of the VS LINE Jiangnan branch: white marble floors + golden corridors—it looks more like a hotel than a clinic!
The overall decor of the clinic is luxurious and minimalist. The floors are made of white marble (Travertine White), and the corridor ceilings feature golden mirrors, which make the space appear much larger. What surprised me the most was that each treatment room is a private room, ensuring complete privacy.
