To be honest, there aren’t many dermatology clinics in the Dongdaemun area. But after a friend recommended shinederma Dermatology Clinic (Dongdaemun shinederma), I made a special trip to visit it. I learned about this clinic through a small circle of friends in Taiwan. They said that many clinics in Seoul are getting bigger and bigger, but the treatments are often performed by different doctors. However, at ShineDermatology, both directors, Park Ji-hyun and Kwon Do-young, have over five years of experience in Dermatology. Moreover, procedures such as laser treatments, hair removal, and anti-aging treatments are all performed directly by the doctors themselves, rather than being delegated to nurses.
When I went there myself, I had Pico laser treatment. This treatment is specifically designed for skin types like mine, which tend to develop chloasma easily and have a dull complexion. The director explained everything in great detail during the consultation; he didn’t try to push any particular treatment on me but simply told me which options were suitable for my current skin condition. Such a approach is really rare at clinics in Gangnam District.

It is only about a 3-minute walk from Exit 11 of Wangsimni Station on Lines 2, 5, Suin-Bundang Line, and Gyeongui Central Line; or you can also take about 3 minutes walking from Exit 4 of Sangwangsimni Station on Line 2. If taking public transportation, get off at Wangsimni 2-dong Community Center and it’s just a 30-second walk from there.
The building itself has an underground parking lot, and patients can park for free for 30 minutes during their consultation, so there’s no need to worry about finding a parking spot. The location is not particularly popular, so the traffic is much less dense than in Gangnam, and there are also far fewer queues.

IV. Dean Park Ji-hyun & Dean Kwon Do-young: Personal medical consultations are undoubtedly the greatest strength of this institution.
Neither of the two directors were merely nominal figures. On the day I visited, Director Park Ji-hyun personally conducted a facial consultation with me, asking what issue was bothering me the most before recommending a treatment plan. The entire process felt very reliable and trustworthy.
After some research, it was found that both of them are official members of the Korean Society of Laser Dermatology, as well as several other professional associations such as the Acne Society and the Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Society. Their qualifications are quite comprehensive indeed. President Park has previously served as the director of Beauty Lounge (Gangnam branch) and Reverse Clinic, so he has extensive clinical experience. President Chun also has a background working as a director at Beauty Lounge and Smile Clinic, among other places.

The clinic is located on the 4th floor. Upon entering, one feels that the space is not very large, but it is clean and tidy. There are several waiting areas, which are not particularly spacious, but I think the size is similar to that of an average small-scale private clinic. Places like this usually have less traffic and shorter waiting times.
The nursing room and equipment all seem to have been purchased in recent years. They are equipped with both Sylfirm X and Pico devices; the HIFU machine used is the latest version (Ultherapy Prime), and the Thermage device is the 4th-generation FLX model. In terms of equipment, they are indeed well-equipped.
