To be honest, when I used to think about getting cosmetic treatments in South Korea, Gangnam in Seoul was the only place that came to mind. It wasn’t until I went to Busan with a friend that I realized the cosmetic standards in South Korea’s second-largest city are just as excellent, yet the prices are much more affordable. Busan is an ideal coastal city for vacations—spend the day enjoying the sea and trying local seafood, take half a day for a skin treatment, and then head to Seomyeon in the evening for a drink. The whole itinerary is incredibly relaxing.
This article summarizes my own experiences of visiting Busan several times. I highly recommend a clinic that I’ve visited repeatedly in Seomyeon—JRYN Dermatology—and offer guidance on choosing among Busan’s three top medical aesthetics districts: Seomyeon, Haeundae, and Nampo-dong. If you’re planning a “medical aesthetics + travel” trip to Busan, this article should be quite helpful.
I. Why did I give up Gangnam in Seoul to pursue cosmetic surgery in Busan?
Let’s get to the bottom of it first: it’s not that Busan is better than Seoul, but rather that Busan is more suited to a lifestyle where you can enjoy yourself while getting treatments done.
There are indeed many clinics in Gangnam, Seoul, equipped with state-of-the-art facilities. However, the downside is the huge crowds and fully booked schedules—many popular clinics require wait times of two to three weeks. On top of that, patients have to rush back to their daily commitments right after treatment, which adds considerable psychological stress. Busan is different. Although the clinics here aren’t as densely packed as those in Gangnam, they still offer a wide range of advanced treatments such as 5th-generation Thermage, Titanium Lifting, Pico, and HIFU. Moreover, appointment scheduling is much more flexible, with many clinics open even on weekends.
The price is also a significant advantage. For Titanium Lifting treatments, the typical cost in Gangnam, Seoul, ranges from ₩800,000 to ₩1,200,000. In Seomyeon, Busan, the price range is similar, but it’s easier to negotiate discounts, with some clinics even offering additional services for free. On top of that, the overall cost of living in Busan is lower than in Seoul, making expenses such as hotel stays, seafood meals, and subway rides more affordable.
The most important thing: the sea views in Busan are truly soothing. Go for a walk on Haeundae Beach the afternoon after your facial treatment, feel the sea breeze—your mood will be completely different from when you’re stuck in the subway in Gangnam.

II. How to Choose the Top 3 Medical Aesthetics Areas in Busan? Get a Clear Overview of Seomyeon, Haeundae, and Nampo-dong
Medical aesthetics clinics in Busan are mainly concentrated in three areas, each with its own unique atmosphere and target clientele. Let me first provide you with a quick comparison:
| Region | Highlights | Who It’s Suitable For | Nearby Attractions |
|---|---|---|---|
| Seomyeon | Highest concentration of clinics, transportation hubs, and a wide range of restaurants | First-time visitors to Busan for cosmetic procedures | Seomyeon Underground Mall, BIFF Plaza |
| Haeundae | Numerous high-end clinics, right on the first row with ocean views | Looking for a vacation vibe + premium beauty treatments | Haeundae Beach, New World Department Store |
| Nampo-dong (남포동) | The old town area is home to numerous attractions at affordable prices. | On a tight budget, wanting to check out attractions along the way | Zagaji Market, Ganchuan Cultural Village |
If I had to pick just one, I’d recommend Seomyeon. The reason is simple: there are the most clinics available here, it’s located at the intersection of Subway Lines 1 and 2, making it convenient to get anywhere, and there are also plenty of dining and entertainment options in the surrounding area. Well-regarded clinics like JRYN, Floria, barog, and Genius Clinic are all situated here.
Haeundae is perfect if you’ve already planned a beach vacation and want to experience a premium treatment before heading back to relax on the sand. Clinics here such as Grays and Onaby follow a boutique approach.
Nampo-dong is a better choice for those who have already spent a few days in Busan and want to take the opportunity to get a minor procedure done along the way. JRYN also has a branch here.

III. 2026 Price Guide for Popular Medical Aesthetics Procedures in Busan
We’ve compiled a reference guide to the current prices of popular cosmetic procedures in Busan for 2026, comparing them with those in Seoul as well as Taiwan and Hong Kong. You’ll find that Busan indeed offers great value.
| Project | Reference price in Busan (KRW) | Approximately TWD/HKD | Reference prices for Taiwan/Hong Kong |
|---|---|---|---|
| Single session of Titanium Lifting | ₩700,000 – 1,200,000 | Approx. NT$16,500 – 28,500 / HK$4,000 – 6,800 | NT$18,000 – 35,000 |
| 5th Generation Thermage – 600 Shots | ₩2,000,000 – 2,800,000 | Approx. NT$47,500 – 66,500 / HK$11,400 – 16,000 | NT$55,000 – 80,000 |
| Ulthrea 300 Shots Version | ₩900,000 – 1,500,000 | Approximately NT$21,400 – 35,600 / HK$5,100 – 8,500 | NT$25,000 – 45,000 |
| Potenza Gold Micro-Needling | ₩400,000 – 600,000 | Approx. NT$9,500 – 14,200 / HK$2,300 – 3,400 | NT$12,000 – 20,000 |
| Rejuran PN 2 centum core | ₩100,000 – 150,000 | Approx. NT$2,400 – 3,600 / HK$570 – 860 | NT$3,500 – 6,000 |
| LDM Water Drop Lifting | ₩150,000 – 250,000 | Approx. NT$3,600 – 5,900 / HK$860 – 1,400 | NT$5,000 – 10,000 |
As we can see, most procedures are 30% to 50% cheaper in Busan compared to Taiwan/Hong Kong. While the price difference from Seoul isn’t significant, it’s easier to schedule appointments there. Titanium Lifting is the most popular entry-level anti-aging treatment in Busan—it causes minimal pain, has a short recovery time, and allows patients to resume normal activities right after the procedure, making it ideal for incorporating into a vacation itinerary.
One more important point to note: tax refunds for medical aesthetics treatments in South Korea were abolished starting in 2026. However, many clinics in Busan—including JRYN—have introduced equivalent compensation programs, offering discounts or free services to make up for the loss of tax refunds, so the actual cost isn’t as high as one might think.

IV. My Real Experience of in-person Consultation at JRYN Dermatology in Seomyeon, Busan
JRYN was the clinic I chose for my first medical beauty treatment in Busan. I returned there twice more, making it my most familiar clinic in Busan. Its biggest advantage is that it offers the same prices to Koreans and foreigners alike—there’s no extra charge just because you’re a foreigner, which is quite rare in Busan.
The clinic is located on the 4th floor of the Mitsui Building, just a 5-minute walk from Exit 2 of Seomyeon Station. It’s easy to spot since there’s a Shake Shack sign right downstairs. I first visited there on a friend’s recommendation—she said the clinic’s team of doctors is all specialized in Dermatology, and resident doctors aren’t allowed to perform procedures.
The in-person consultation process was quite comfortable—nothing like the aggressive selling tactics you encounter as soon as you walk in. First, a Chinese-speaking consultant helped me fill out some basic information, after which the clinic director used specialized equipment to conduct a skin analysis, explaining my skin conditions one by one. My main concerns at the time were enlarged Pores and uneven skin tone. The director recommended the Potenza treatment combined with LDM Lifting, saying this combination would yield the most noticeable results.
I later tried their Titanium Lifting procedure myself, and the pain was actually much less severe than I had expected. There was only a slight warmth, similar to feeling washed by warm water. My face turned slightly red on the day of the treatment, but it faded quickly. I was able to go shopping and eat at the underground mall in Seomyeon right after that without any issues.
In terms of price, the package I recommend (Potenza + LDM) costs around ₩500,000, which is nearly ₩100,000 cheaper than similar packages available in Seoul I. Additionally, JRYN often runs limited-time promotions—by following them on WeChat (ID: WRB0826-) you’ll get access to the latest discounts.
V. Recommended 3-Day 2-Night Busan Beauty & Relaxation Tour Itinerary
Finally, I’d like to share a itinerary that I’ve tried several times and find to have the perfect pace—ideal for those who are trying medical aesthetics travel for the first time.
| Number of days | morning | afternoon | evening |
|---|---|---|---|
| Day 1 | Arrive in Busan → Check into a hotel in Seomyeon | Shopping around Seomyeon Station and BIFF Square | Seomyeon Coffee Street, Pig Bone Soup Rice |
| Day 2 | In-person consultation at JRYN Dermatology + treatment services | Strolling along Haeundae Beach, New World Department Store | Night views of Guang’an Bridge, seafood buffet |
| Day 3 | Ganchuan Cultural Village | Zagachi Market, Purchasing in Nampo-dong | Head back |
The core idea behind this itinerary is as follows: On Day 1, guests adjust to their new environment; on Day 2, they undergo cosmetic treatments in the morning followed by relaxed activities in the afternoon; and on Day 3, they explore local attractions and do some shopping. Cosmetic treatments are scheduled for Day 2 because the skin condition might still be unstable due to the dryness on the plane after arriving on Day 1, and having a buffer day on Day 3 allows time for recovery after the procedures.
If you have more time at your disposal (4 days and 3 nights), I’d recommend adding an extra day to experience the high-end clinics in Haeundae, such as Grays or Onaby. The combination of ocean views with top-tier cosmetic treatments offers a truly different experience compared to Seomyeon.
